CONNECT WITH OUR PARTNERS
Dick and Beatriz Tafur
Dick and Beatriz are local leaders in the city of Pucallpa, Peru. They lead four ministries in this Amazon region: an outreach to poor children and those with disabilities, leadership development with teenagers, a care ministry to elderly persons, and visiting tribal peoples deep in the Amazon forests of Peru. Together, their desire is to bring joy and love to the marginalized in their community and in the underserved areas beyond. Volunteers will support Dick and Beatriz in Pucallpa through programs to children, teens, or elderly community members, including hospital visits, after school activities, and clown shows. There are also opportunities to travel deep into the Amazon to bring compassion to indigenous peoples. For those interested in the lives of first responders abroad, Dick will involve you in his work as a volunteer fireman.
Marcelina Huamán Chavéz
Marcelina is a Quechuan pastor serving the local indigenous churches in the area. Many churches provide resources for the isolated high Andean region. One of our projects includes expanding her church in Tinta – Marcelina recently purchased an adjoining property next to their existing building on the Plaza de Armas in Tinta. Volunteers will work with Marcelina to impact the many villages she serves in the mountain region in Perú. Your service could include preparing, building and renovating buildings or community support such as sports, education or medical outreaches. Projects vary depending on participant skill level and on the ground needs of local impact partners.
