Dominican Republic: Pimentel Information

In the Caribbean, the Dominican Republic is known for scenic beaches, tropical agriculture and rich hispanic culture. Education is at the center of national importance. While literacy rates have risen over the past years, economic conditions cause many to opt to work over continue education. There are still issues regarding gender inequity, lack of resources, and retention. Education may be at the core of social solutions for the future of the country.

CERINFA Computer Lab

CERINFA School serves underprivileged youth for over 22 years, focusing on developing children with character and values in a nurturing environment of love and support. Access to modern-day technology is mostly unattainable for a child growing up in Pimentel. This lack of access presents a disadvantage that prevents children from developing a foundation of technical skills and world knowledge.

We seek to fill a classroom with 25 computers. For $550, you can provide a class room with a fully up to date desktop computer (desk and chair also included). Help support the children of Pimentel with a technology rich environment where they can develop critical technical skills, express their creativity in a whole new way and dream big!

DR Teachers

Educational Conferences

Help sponsor a conference for K-12 and higher education teachers. Professional development is not a common privilege teachers have in the Dominican Republic. Providing a 3-day conference for teachers will allow them to access great resources and engage with professionals in the field.

The conference will feature US professors, keynotes and local leadership in an engaging combination of speakers and workshops. Funds raised will cover a variety of costs related to putting on the conference including flights, location, and sponsoring DR teachers attendance.
